I watched a short documentary about web 3.0, also known as
the semantic web, featuring many of the people that have a huge impact on the future
of the internet. The film found here
on Youtube even had the founder of the internet, Tim Burns, which is still
working to improve the web. After watching the film it seems to me they have no
clue which way they are going to go with this new web or web 3.0. The web is a
glob of over information that is very hard to navigate and find what is right
and wrong. Many companies are trying to push their way up the ranks to get our
attention and this web 3.0 project seems to want to do away with that system. I
don’t see these large companies allowing that to happen without having their
way in it. The semantic web is a web built by you the user. It is what you make
of it and if you made your web how will a company trying to sell you something
force themselves up your home built ranks. I do not see that being possible! I
think we are a long way away from any type of web 3.0.

Foods I found in Thailand in a Flickr Slideshow
In the following slideshow are some of the foods I encountered on
my trip to Thailand. There was some great smoothies made with exotic fruits and
Korean bar – b – que eaten fresh off the grill. The weirdest of which was the
frog soup. There was plenty more that I didn't get pictures of like the famous
durian fruit which smells so bad like an old dirty sock or the mangosteen that
is so delicious. Some were healthy others were just plain weird and all were
interesting. But hey! Don’t take my word for it. Check it out and you be the
judge! Tell me what you think.
Enjoy the ShowWHAT DOES HEALTHY WEIGHT LOSS LOOK LIKE?
When thinking of losing weight you should ask yourself how much weight is safe to lose in what amount of
time? If you drop weight to fast it can be unhealthy, make you sick, and you might just be losing the wrong kind of weight. "Wrong kind of weight, what is that"! Well lets look at what a safe amount of weight to lose is and the answer may revile itself. A safe amount of weight lose should be 1- 2 pounds a week, which works out to about 8 pounds a month. Some of you may think that is not enough but slow and steady wins the race. According to the CDC's page on losing weight, people that lose 1 - 2 pounds a week are more likely to keep it off in the long term. So if you rush and lose to much all in one shot it my just find its way back on you.

Second, one of the reasons it comes on so fast is because of the type of weight you lost in the first place. Most extreme diets that allow you to lose weight fast cause you to burn not just fat but protein which is stored in your muscles. Just like the old saying goes muscle weighs more than fat so when the pounds come flying off don't get to excited because it's not the weight you want to be losing.

My First Podcast
This is my first attempt at a podcast and it is a short one so don't get too excited!
My Feedly and Me!
Feedly, is an RSS reader extension for the web browser Chrome. I have been using it for about a week now and I have enjoyed having it in my tool box for the week. Instead of going from site to site and looking at each one individually and reading the whole page, Feedly brings them all to you in one convenient page in smaller bit size pieces. Although, it is just snippets of information if something catches your eye you can continue on to the site and read the whole article. Now, on the other hand because it does not bring over every article it can be easy to miss something you may have wanted to see so it is still a good idea to visit you favorite sites. With our busy lives today it is nice to have this convenient tool to do the work for us.
My pros and cons for RSS readers in general not Feedly in particular are as follows;
Pros are that everything is brought to you allowing for much less time surfing the web. Also, the RSS feed act as a bookmarking site for your favorite sites. Cons are the whole article is not right there on the feed forcing you to go off to another site in order to finish reading it. Also, not all of the articles show on you feed causing you to miss some if you do not visit the original site.

Quinoa? What is it and is it healthy???
Quinoa is new to many people and rightfully so. Hey! My spell check doesn't think the word even exists so why should you. You should because quinoa is whats known as a super food. Because of its high density of nutritional value quinoa beats out many other carbohydrates. So what exactly is quinoa? It looks like a grain or a cereal but it is actually a seed. Primarily the crops are grown in South America and imported to the United States. Now why is quinoa so good for you? Well lets compare something else you might see on your plate that quinoa might be a good substitute, brown rice.
Now this graph is a good example of why quinoa is such a power house. As you can see the quinoa is higher in the calorie count but that also a part of why it is so much better for you. Quinoa has both poly and mono unsaturated fats which are great for your body and mind along with the much higher protein content. Because of this quinoa as much less of an effect on your blood sugar which is great for weight management and all around health. As you can see quinoa may be new to the seen, well rather new to us Americans, but it has much to offer. Please try some in your diet and let me know what you think of this mysterious food.

Healthy Fast Food ????
Recently, I had a comment on my last post about eating healthy while on the go.I thought this would be a great opportunity to point out some local, Las
Vegas area, healthy "fast" foods or things you can take on the go. I
say local Las Vegas because that is where I live but some of the places I
mention may be in your area or you may have something similar. Now, one
of my all time favorite places to eat for healthy food on the go is Fix 8 Fitness Cafe. Their menu is simple with a choice of a meat and carbohydrate. Your carbohydrate being a choice of white or brown rice or you can substitute that for a sweet potato, which I highly recommend because of its nutritional value. The meats consist of steak, chicken, turkey, and fish all of which have excellent flavor. All of this without a bunch of fried foods that you would normal see at a fast food joint. Second, is Proteins and Greens on Eastern and 215 which has a great selection of smoothies, juices, and healthy food. If you like a good smoothie or freshly made juice that packs a healthy punch then check out those links because this is the place for you. Lastly, if you are on the go and do not have time to stop anywhere then packing a quick meal or snack is the best bet. Some quick options are fruit, which I recommend you eat as much as your heart desires, Winder Farms protein shake or something similar, and tuna packets. Please feel free to comment and add to this list it will be great to hear from you.
